A while back I wrote about being part of the digital and analog generation. One of the things I love from that analog era is a good fountain pen and writing pad. I still brain-dump the planning and initial phases of each project (as well as recon and site casing sketches) on a notepad.
Lately I've been using the Baron Fig Confidant. A simple and sturdy notepad that really makes a difference. Quality paper, no brandings on the outside and the perfect size. Highly recommended.
The pen is a custom made fountain pen made by a USMC veteran that is building pens as a way to deal with stress. He came to the office to show us some of his pens and other tools and we all bought a bunch. Great quality, a lot of neat details and, most importantly, we helped a veteran.
Sometimes you can only do it with pen and paper. It feels right and it feel real.
If you are like me and love pen and paper, I recommended you read Patrick Rhone's The Cramped. It's oh so good.
