The questions I get asked often the most are about gear. What I have, what I recommend, brands... I have a lot of gear so I can’t list everything, however I'll try to post small reviews of the gear I use all the time.

A little disclaimer though, I use high quality gear.

"Trust comes, in part, from simplicity. When something is simple, it’s possible to understand it in fullness. When you understand a thing, you can trust it."

It is very true. The simpler the gear, the better it is. Your life depend on this.

Gear you can trust is expensive. There is no way around it. However, because it is built properly it will last, making the investment on the items worthwhile. With proper care, these items will last a lifetime and you will not have to spend more money on another one.

My friend Patrick Rhone put it very simply in his post Final Choices:

Anywhere I can make a buying choice that I, with proper care and maintenance, will never have to make again for the rest of my life, I do. In those cases, I’m willing to pay far more for an item if I know it will last a lifetime and, even more importantly to me, I will never have to spend the mental energy making a choice again.

When choosing your next piece of kit, think about what you need first, then quality and then price. Get the best you can buy with your budget.
