I've been wanting to write about the TAD Special Service Sweater since I bought it several weeks ago, but only now after I wore it both to the field and on an urban environment I can really talk about how good this piece is.
This Merino Wool sweater is based on the classic Wooly Pully worn by the British and other militaries in the world. However the keyword here is based. TAD grabbed this and made it even better:
- Fit: Active - it is a very trim fitting sweater.
- Material: 100% Merino Wool - it's a great material the helps regulate the body temperature across a variety of conditions. Even when wet.
- Patterning: Reinforced elbows and shoulders. Great for carrying a backpack. The seams are placed out of the way.
It is a heavy sweater but it fits compfortably and you won't notice you have it on. It has kept me warm on nights where the temperatures were many degrees below freezing. Add a good softshell jacket and you have a good layering system for the city and sometimes for the field.
My only complain? It is made in China. The rest of the TAD gear I have is all made in the USA. TAD is a company that prides itself on making high quality, high-end gear, right here in the USA, so I was a little dissapointed when I saw this.
Still, this is a great piece, highly recommended.
